National Accreditation Public Notice

The Litchfield Land Trust is pleased to announce we are applying for Accreditation. Accreditation is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence. To achieve Accreditation, Litchfield Land Trust is in the process of completing a rigorous review and audit. Upon completion, we will join a national network of Land Trust organizations united by strong ethical practices.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs. The Commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how the Litchfield Land Trust complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see:

Comments may also be mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments, 36 Phila Street, Suite 2, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A public comment period is now open.
Comments on Litchfield Land Trust’s application will be most useful by July 19, 2024.
