Our Conservation Partnerships

Generous members of our community past and present have put a portion of their land in conservation. Called a conservation easement, these parcels remain in the ownership of the grantor; thus they remain private property. The LLT in turn protects the development rights ensuring that the eased portion of the property is preserved in perpetuity thus conserving the natural resources, family lands, viewscapes and the rural character of our community.

Thanks to generous donations of land owners and partners in our community, LLT owns 1,546 acres of land. In addition, LLT has 2,589 acres of land in conservation easements. Our Preserves feature hiking trails open to all for recreational use.

Please browse the map below to see all the great work we are doing in conserving privately held land in Litchfield.
