Our Preserves Grab a map and go explore!

We love knowing folks are hiking our trails and connecting with nature on our properties which allow public access– after all, it’s a significant part of what we do! Please assist by observing our Trail Stewardship Guidelines: We welcome hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing & snowshoeing, birding and photography.

  1. “Leave No Trace” — Leave only footsteps, take only photos. Carry out and properly dispose of whatever you bring in.
  2. Please keep dogs leashed.
  3. The collection of plants or animals is prohibited.
  4. Hunting, trapping, use of firearms or other weapons is prohibited.
  5. Respect our farmers by staying off fields during the growing season and steering clear of operating machinery and livestock.
  6. No campfires.
  7. Motorized vehicles are not allowed.
  8. All preserves close at dusk.
  9. If you see something, please say something. Report acts of vandalism to our resident state trooper at 860-354-0089 and/or our LLT office 860-361-9310.
  10. Be Bear Smart.  If encountering a bear while hiking, make your presence known by yelling or making other loud noises. Usually a bear will move from an area once it detects humans. If it does not retreat, slowly leave the area and find an alternate route. The DEEP’s 24-hour dispatch line at 860-424-3333, or use this report form. For more information, explore the CT DEEP site.
  11. Be Weather Smart. Please use good judgment with weather conditions.
